  • Promotes high academic achievement, strong leadership capability, a concern for others, self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence in athletic performance in every student-athlete.

Goal III: To set high standards for winning at the conference and national level.

    Core Values and Goals

    Unquestionable Integrity
As a Catholic Jesuit institution of higher learning, our primary goals are the intellectual and moral development of our students. These commitments are consistently measured by the exceptional graduation rates of our student-athletes and rules compliance by our staff and student athletes.

Goal I: To comply with both the spirit and letter of the law for West Coast Conference, NCAA, University and Federal guidelines.

Goal IX: To promote ethical and sporting conduct to all student-athletes, staff, and spectators in all situations whether on or off the field of play.

    Service Minded
As an Athletic Department, we support and foster the development of the whole person devoted to the pursuit of a common good that transcends the interests of particular individuals or groups.

Goal II: To foster Jesuit values in the total development of the student-athletes through academic achievement, engagement in the life of the University community, and leadership development.

    Focused on Winning
As a competitive intercollegiate program and a major source of pride for the entire University, winning is the key component. All of our teams must strive to win.

Goal III: To set high standards for winning at the conference and national level.

Goal IV: To enhance the visibility of the University through athletics.

Goal VII: To develop and implement a plan to provide the necessary funding to achieve the established goals.

    Determined to Involve
Student athletes must play an integral part in the greater university community. Athletic opportunities are vehicles to heighten personal development and when complemented with intense campus involvement, we believe that the benefits of athletic participation should be available to as many students, faculty and staff as possible.

Goal V: To increase the number of undergraduates actively engaged as participants on athletic teams and support services and, thereby, help achieve the gender equity, student recruitment and retention goals of the University.

Goal VI: To serve as a bonding force in the U.S.F. on-campus community.

Goal VIII: To support and promote equitable opportunities for a diverse student-athlete and staff population within the Athletics Department.
